Voluntary Director
Bookshop Crawl UK CIC is seeking a voluntary director to complete our board of directors. Bookshop Crawl UK is a community interest company supporting bookshops in various areas and creating events that provide the community of people who love books with the opportunity to meet each other and form friendships in a low pressure way while exploring bookshops and buying books. We run book groups in bookshops which enable an expansion of this environment and the development of a strong, supportive community of friends who love books. We also run Canterbury Children’s Literature Festival which aims to improve and support literacy and a love of stories in the local area of Canterbury and East Kent.

We are seeking a voluntary director to help oversee the fulfilment of these duties. Directors will be expected to attend quarterly meetings (in person or virtually) to discuss the current situation and furtherance of the CIC’s aims. Alongside that, the duties of the director will be as follows:

-
Directors will be familiar with the articles of association for Bookshop Crawl UK CIC
-
Directors will be passionate about and promote the aims of Bookshop Crawl UK CIC and be ready to suggest ideas and methods of expanding and furthering our aims.
-
Directors will make independent decisions about the company’s activities to bring to the board for discussion
-
Directors will disclose any conflicts of interest to the other directors so that appropriate steps may be taken
-

The ideal candidate will be:

-
Over the age of 18 and a UK resident
-
Interested in and passionate about the arts and literacy
-
A community minded person with experience of community events
-
Have experience of and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team, creating ideas in conjunction with our other three directors.

Please note that this is a completely voluntary role and is not paid, but does not affect your ability to take part in Bookshop Crawl UK events and the literature festival in a separate, professional capacity (in the case of bookshop owners, authors etc). Interested candidates should apply by email to hello@bookshopcrawl.co.uk stating their experience and reasons for applying.

Closing date for applications is September 30th 2025.
